Human rights in a global pandemic

Event announcement:– Next week I will be speaking at a virtual seminar organised by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties to mark World Human Rights Day, December 10 (from midday, Dublin time).

I’ll be part of a panel discussing the challenges of balancing emergency public-health guidelines with human rights.

How emergency laws influence human behaviour, and whether it is appropriate, or even effective, to use criminal sanctions to ensure compliance, are especially pressing matters during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also important to examine the status of the so-called “science” of behaviour-change, and the quality of the evidence produced by that science.

The event is online, it’s free, and you can register here.
